Target Timeline for Cohort 2:

Step Three: Build A Foundation

Once you've gotten a match, we'll solidify what we agree to do together

Get to Know

You and your match will start by getting to know each other one-on-one. Mentorship starts with a mutual caring as people, to begin building trust.

Build Rhythm & Structure

An established cadence will make scheduling easy. A few key structural components will help encourage depth and frame goals in your mentorship.

Form an Agreement

To cap off the program, you'll create an agreement to define the core values and actions of the mentorship. This sets up a relationship that's valuable in the long term.

WHAT IS A MENTOR?

Here's our definition:
First a mentor is someone who takes the time to get to know you.
Then, a mentor plays these three roles to help you grow and achieve goals:

ADVISOR

Great advice often comes from experience. An effective tech mentor will distill knowledge and wisdom from their past, to help you problem-solve and make decisions.

COACH

Coaching unlocks the answers in your head.
Tech mentors can be a special kind of mirror, that helps you see yourself in your best light, decluttering your thinking and helping you discover your path.

SPONSOR

Sponsors lower barriers and open doors.
A mentor can provide resources, connections and advocacy that change the game for you. They can even do this in rooms you're not in.

Based on the ideas above, we believe mentorship can benefit all tech workers, and that we can find good matches for all. Please consider joining us as a mentor or mentee candidate.
